Minutes-Board of Trustees

August 19, 2008

The regular meeting of the Board of Trustees was held on August 19, 2008. President Shawn Gavan called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. Present were Director Ann Perrigo, Trustees Shawn Gavan, Billi Williams, Hollis Hough, Nancy Ingalsbee, Ed Kowalski, and Susan Jerkatis.

Minutes from the June Board meeting were approved upon a motion made by Trustee Kowalski and seconded by Trustee Hough.

The financial reports were reviewed, and upon a motion made by Trustee Ingalsbee, seconded by Trustee Jerkatis, the bills presented by Director Perrigo were approved for payment. The financial and statistical reports were also given at this time. Library visits and circulation numbers are up substantially from a year ago.

OLD BUSINESS:

Friends Committee: There was no Friends meeting in July.

District Issue:
* Upon a motion by Trustee Ingalsbee, seconded by Trustee Kowalski, the resolution to approve the DL Agreement was approved.
* Upon a motion by Trustee Ingalsbee, seconded by Trustee Jerkatis, the resolution to approve the DL Additional Agreements was approved.


Building Maintenance:
* The workroom is nearly completed.
* Renovation of the restrooms is the next renovation project.

Inventory
* Less than 1% of inventory is missing.

Diversity Resolution
* Upon a motion by Trustee Ingalsbee, seconded by Trustee Jerkatis, the Diversity Resolution presented by the Henika District Library was approved.

NEW BUSINESS:

* Director Perrigo received a grant from the Perrigo Foundation to use for Reading Programs
* Paperwork was signed for payment by the anonymous donor for the Director’s office.

Public Comment: There was no public comment.

Librarian’s Report:
1. New interloan system is working.
2. Summer Reading Update has 456 participants, 80 of whom are teens.
3. One Book, One County choice is Marlee and Me.
4. The newsletter should come out soon after Labor Day.
5. Ed Spicer is putting on a series of programs about books nominated for the Caldecott Medal to be held at the library.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:57 p.m. The next meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 16, 2008.
